Just bought a 97 Adventurer 34RQ. Is there or should there be a battery disconnect somewhere for the house batts?

Sometimes it is called a use/store switch or more colloquially the salesman's switch. Usually located in or near the step well.

It's called the Aux Batt switch and it's, surprisingly, located on the dash according to page 2-11 of the Owners Manual:
