Chances are, it must be 'on' for the charger to charge the batteries. You can verify this by looking at your voltage meter, and see if the voltage either increases or drops when you switch the battery switch on or off.

The only time my switches are off are when it's in storage, with no shore cord.

It is my understanding that the switch must be on for the batteries to charge but when not connected to shore power or not running the generator I generally turn the switch off. Of course it is on while driving and I also don't bother to switch off if only for a day or so between uses.

If you mean the "salesman" switch, usually next to the door, then ON for sure. I'm not sure which switch you mean by auxillary.

My manual says to activate the Aux battery switch (that is what Winnebago labels the battery disconnect switch) when connected to shore power for extended periods of time.
I don't do that but I do have a calendar tickler that reminds me to check the electrolyte level once each month.

On my 2005 Sightseer I added a Trik l Start charger as the shore power only charges the house batteries and not the chassis battery. Before I added the Trik l my chassis battery would go dead when I had it plugged in at my house with the Aux Switch on. Since I installed th Trik L Charge my chassis battery is charged when on Shore Power or Aux On. This is a must in my opinion for any MoHo. My toad braking system has a trickle charger as well although I've never had an issue with my car battery.

Yes, have it on so the converter/charger can maintain your batteries.

The problem with doing that is that the Parallax 7300 series converter Winnebago uses in some models will cause the batteries to lose water if left on continuously.
That is why Winnebago says on those models to disconnect the batteries when connected to shore power for extended periods of time.
If you want to leave it connected you need to check the electrolyte level in the batteries often.

Isn't virtually all of the lighting in the coach living area 12VDC? That is provided by the converter/house batteries which is disconnected when the switch is OFF.

I purchase, I parked in storage, I disconnect through the switches the service battery and the house batteries. In a little over a week I could go back, start, and have a low battery indicator of 11.8 v.

Perplexed I called Winnebago, gave them the VIN number and they said to leave both switches on when hooked to shore power and to make sure the entry step is turned off.

I now never turn off the battery disconnect switch and as I depart the MH I close the screen door, retract the steps, reach in and turn off the step motor.

So far, never a problem with batter drain.

I'm several years newer than yours, but maybe a call to Winnebago would confirm your procedures.

Happy trails.

When the battery disconnect switch in off the converter is still on and supplies 12 vdc to the lights and other items.
