Autogen Issue

I have a 2016 Adventurer with autogen. The autogen comes on at the correctbattery voltage, whichI haveset for 11.9 but it only runs a short while then shuts down. Itwill restart again about 15 minutes later... The climate control is set to system off, the charge limit has been set to auto, and 13.5v and set to hold at 40 mins before turning off. Oil level is good and generator will run without issues when manually started. Not realy sure where to start checking things. Any suggestions?

Might be a software issue on the Energy Command 30. See attached Product Support Bulletin. If you happen to be coming to the Grand National Rally, there will be a Cummins Service Engineer there that can do the update.

I find this interesting. I have spoken to Onan many times about this problem and no one has ever mentioned the PSB. I spoke to the supposed specialist in Elkhart and emailed Onan/Cummins directly with no response from them. I'll check later today what version of firmware we have.

I am seriously considering switching to the Magnum AGS this winter for th main reason the Magnum uses SOC as its measurment. We have the rest of the Magnum system installed with shunt so it would be moderate $ enhancement.

So, the good and the bad to help others who may have this issue.

My Energy Command 3.0/G has software ver. 3.02 R5, which is in the range covered by the PSB above.

Winnebago indicates that Cummins has a 3 year warranty so the generator is still covered but I have to contact Onan - That's Good.

Contacted Onan and was told the Generator was never registered by Winnebago so its not covered, and they had no way to upgrade the software - that's Bad....

Trying to resolve with Winnebago, somehow think I may be screwed...

Registration is not a condition of warranty. Your generator has a 3 year warranty from date of in-service. All you have to prove is when it was put into service/purchased.

The Energy Command 30 will need to be reprogrammed. It can be done at the Grand National Rally in Forest City later this month if you are going to be there? If not, the control panel will need to be sent in, reprogrammed and returned. I can email you the details when I'm back in the office next week. Please send me your email address. My work email address is [email protected]
