Auto levelers versus dvd playback

I have owned my vista 31BE for a couple years now and cannot seem to find an order of operation to play dvds through the entertainment system. The manual says I have to set and release parking brake twice however the vehicle has to be on to do that so auto-leveling system thinks I am trying to drive away and emergency retracts. Is there a way to properly set this up or am I better off just buying an external DVD player and hooking it to the tv? Thanks in advance for the help.

You can buy an electronic device on-line for a few bucks that connects to the entertainment center and emulates the emergence brake sequence.

Here's one.
