Annoying Snapping sound in speakers

Has anyone experienced a snapping or ticking sound in speakers for your radio? It changes speed but can't figure what is causing this annoying sound.

I gave up on my RV installed speakers for good music. Blue tooth speakers are better.

If this is when the engine is not running and the radio power is switched to 'house' that's a 'feature' of our systems The best fix is to switch the radio power to 'engine' when not in use...

Same in our Vectra 40AD!! Sounds like dripping water, had a few panics early on!!

Then little grand kid played with switches, happened again, also switched everything else, so quick check after they've gone home!!

Tell us more about your rig.

Is it on the Workhorse Chassis? If so, popping noises that change with engine speed are indicative of a bad plug wire or faulty coil ground.

A whine that changes pitch with engine speed is usually caused by a bad rectifier diode allowing AC to cause noise. It can be filtered out by using a line filter (really just a capacitor) to pass the errant AC to ground. You can find out if that is the culprit by setting your VOM to ACV and looking for anything above about 15 VAC.

So, that indicates "dirty power" coming from your power converter. Might need to have that checked out. On another note, unless you have a trickle charger for your chassis battery, you may drain it more quickly that you're used to.

So are you saying that the converter may be putting out power in spite of being being turned off? Or is it possibly drawing some power even though there is no draw on the inverter?

Mine was a bad radio. Installed a new one and now no problem. Just a thought might have a audio place check it out.
