AC/DC electrical distribution system, 55-amp. converter/charger

The title is what it says I have (on the Winnebago site) . But when I am bulk charging my 800AH worth of batteries, the display indicates it is providing them with 105 amps. What gives?

I'm guessing you have a magnum inverter/charger which replaces the converter and can provide up to 125 amps vs the 55. If you have a factory residential refer, this is what you have.

Thank you Sam, I looked into my "bag-o-literature" and indeed this is what I have. Oddly though, I opted out of the residential fridge in favor of a Norcold dual power unit.

800-amp hours of batteries? That would be unusual. I’d expect you to have 4-AGM “commercial” house batteries for a total Of 400-amp hours.

Ya, A bit of a story there. I thought the coach would come with 2 batteries, since I did not order it with a residential fridge. So while it was being built, I got 2 more of the same size/type so I would have 4. Then the coach came in with 4 (to my surprise) and I saw that the compartment would easily hold 6. Then I discovered another 2 could be housed under the stairs with the engine battery. So I ordered one more. Total of 7 house batteries. NAPA grp 31's. About 800AH.

I would love to have had AGM or GC batteries, but why waist these nice NAPA commercial grade batteries? They do fine, and the 5 stage charger keeps the maintenance to a minimum. I'll get 5 years out of them.

It's possible your's are different, but my Commercial NAPA batteries ARE AGM batteries.

I ordered it from the factory with that option. We do a lot of dry camping and I just wasn't ready for the residential option yet.

Wow, I wish mine had come with those. Although they are about twice the price of what I have. BAT 8231

I also have a small (20A) solar charger which I use with 300W of panels. It is bluetooth controlled so I can just leave it in the battery compartment and connect with the phone/tablet when needed.

Nice setup! I also have 300W on the roof, but it came with a 30W solar controller. I’m also letting my AGM batteries age out before my next big project to upgrade to Lithium batteries.
