6v battery setup

Does this wiring setup look correct? The chassis positive and negative cables would attach to the circled blue terminals.

Yes.
The negative to positive connections make the two 6 volt batteries act like one 12 volt. So in your picture you can think of two 12 volt batteries, one on each side.
Now you connect those 'two' 12 volt batteries positive to positive and negative to negative, to double the amp hours capacity.

Yes that is a typical series/parallel connection scheme for 4 6V batteries.

So I have multiple positives and negatives from the coach. Which ones are a absolute must for even loading? The positive and ground coming from the inverter?

Here is a picture of the old setup when I purchased it. You can see they have positive and negative on multiple posts.

There are only 3 batteries in that picture. They appear to be 12 Volt batteries in parallel. You need 4 batteried if they are 6 volt. EDIT: The fact that there are two fluid access ports is a give away that they are 12 voly batteries. Three cells per cover = 12 volt. A 6 volt battery would have one cover for 3 cells.

bjboles,
Before I answer your question, I need to ask one or two questions myself. The reason I'd like to ask these questions is, my daughter and son-in-law just bought an '04 Winnebago Journey 34H and they were lead to believe it had the CAT C-7 in it. It doesn't. It has the CAT 3126E in it. That, in and of itself, is not a big deal. They're basically the same engine with some minor improvements in the C-7 version.

Second, their 34H DOES NOT have the optional Dimensions 2000 Watt Inverter/Charger in it. It does have, a small, around 300 watt inverter in the switch box area cabinet, next to the TV in the front.

So, just to make sure we're on the same page, did yours come with the C-7 or the 3126E? I'm just curious on this. Second, does your coach have the optional Dimensions 2000 watt Inverter/Charger? If it does, then, to answer your question(s). Yes, you will have two, 4/0 battery cables, one positive and one negative, that go from the house batteries directly to the inverter/charger. But, the positive one will, or should, have a stop-over, at a 300 amp fuse, located in the battery compartment, directly above and to the right, of the house batteries. Ya kind-a have to get down and look up, to see that 300A fuse.

If you have that arrangement, you will also have another set of positive and negative cables leading away from those house batteries. Those cables should lead ALL THE WAY to the front of the coach, to the left front side where, they attach to bulk-head studs. From there, there will be leads that go to most or all of your 12VDC house needs. You might have parasitic leads that are attached to the house battery posts too. Some might be as small as 14GA or 12GA wires. Those are added by either the factory or previous owners.

I used to have (3) 12V junk Interstate batteries for house batteries. I changed them out to (4) 6V GC batteries within the first few months of ownership. And, my wiring is close to identical to yours.

Thanks Fire Up. Ours has the C7 with Dimensions 2k inverter. So would it be ok to have the inverter cables hook to the blue battery studs and the chassis bulkhead cables hook to the green battery studs?

That would be fine. The most important thing is to connect diagonally, like you have pictured, to insure that two of the batteries are not stressed (yielding lower life times).

Well here is the finished project. With the new LED TV and DVD player, the inverter only shows 75watts running. I think these batteries shall work really well.
