2017 Sunstar LX Electric Upgrade

Almost done with my Lithium Battery/Solar/ConverterCharger upgrade. Did a lot of reading here and want to thank all the other folks for their write ups and advice on how to get it done. Hit a snag on how to access the converter/charger in my rig and wanted to share how I removed/replaced mine so others wouldn’t have to guess. If there is an easier way to do it I (and others) would appreciate hearing how it’s done.

Last year I installed 400W of Renogy solar panels, ran the wires down the fridge vent in conduit terminating at the MPPT40. After a 10 day boondocking trip decided I needed to upgrade the 2 105 ah 6volt GC batteries. Scored a couple Renogy 12V 100Ah Lithium LiFePO4 batteries for “cheap”.

By looking at the schematics I guessed the converter/charger I was going to replace with a lithium compatible model would be under the pantry to the right of the fridge. Ended up pulling the carbon monoxide to see that’s where it was, next to the exterior wall. Turned off all electrical, disconnected batteries and removed breaker box. No way I could reach it from there. My rig has an exterior radio I could see the back of. Took one of the speakers off and could “just” reach in and remove mounting screws and connections. Unplugged the unit from the outlet and removed. Luckily the replacement Pro Dynamics PD9145L had the same footprint so it was easy to reinstall. Here are some of the pictures I took.

Except for my scrapped up arms it all went pretty well. Next up is a DC-DC unit and I think I will be in good shape. Pictures are from the speaker hole.
