2016 View Head Unit (Radio/GPS/Backup Camera)

Hello - We just purchased a 2016 View 24J on 8/31 and during the walkthrough (private party) the owner could not get the head unit to turn on. Claims it worked fine up until that morning. We ended up purchasing the unit as is so I’m trying to troubleshoot the issue. This screen simply remains black. No actions I’ve been able to do using the buttons or what is supposed to be the power on/off (pressing in on volume knob) is working. The fuse I believe to be associated is not blown. Also, when the headlights are switched on, the backlighting of the buttons and volume knob are illuminated. Any suggestions or others that have experienced this? Maybe the screen on the unit has gone out, not certain and haven’t taken it in for inspection by a Mercedes or RV outfit yet. Seems like maybe we’re missing something simple? Maybe even a security lockout or the like? The previous owner did mention replacing the coach battery recently.

Thanks in advance!

DJP,
Welcome to the forum.
You might do a forum search for Excite or Riverpark problems as many of us have had a variety of issues with these units. After several power issues I eventually dumped ours and had a local car stereo shop install a Kenwood unit (DNX997XR I think, it was a while ago). Not cheap but it works well and has an RV gps, Apple CP/Android Auto, a larger screen, better camera image and the installer was able to reconnect the steering wheel controls that Mercedes had disconnected under a recall.
It is possible that Riverpark will work with you to replace the head. Worth a call.
Apologies for the crummy pix taken inside the barn. We run with the camera on to keep an eye on the Ebikes. The last one shows the other devices we use to find our way down the road.

Regards, Mike. 2016 View 24V.

Hey Seymour2Lane - Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like these head units are problematic. I appreciate the suggestion on RiverPark. Looks like I’ll be making contact with them for suggestions and like you, may go the route of replacing with a different head unit.

All the best!
