2013 Tour generator weak start.

I have read about an undersized wire that should be replace. Anyone have details? I many times have to hold the boost button down to start even when my house batteries are at 13.2.
I would like to correct this so that my auto gen start will work.
Thanks in advance.
Jesse

2013 Tour generator weak start.

The dealer did the fix on mine. I could not tell what they did, but it auto starts now. I'm not sure if they added a wire to the existing wire or took the old one out added new wire. They said they added a larger gauge wire from the battery to the gen starter.

I'm guessing if you fun a new wire from house batteries to starter it should work. Keep us posted.

Jesse, I too had the same issue. I read that the fix too replace the wire.

I stopped at Forest city for a punch list including auto start gen not working correctly. Tech told me it checked out ok! Of course it did, plugged in and the batteries were fully charged! That night I unplugged shore power, next morning tech arrived, suggested he try auto start to charge battery...gen would engage starter...stop ...switch from auto start to manual by itself...they added a heavy gauge wire battery to starter...seemed to be an involved job.

Jesse,

Please post back with what you find.

If I remember correctly (a big if), somebody posted that the problem was the Onan ec-30 panel sensed too much of a voltage drop on starting, and aborted the process, switching it to manual. If Onan could change those parameters....

I have the same problem, although it occurs primarily in colder weather. I was at GNR last year, and asked for it to be checked, but of course it worked fine then.

Hey guys
I got an answer back from Winnebago today. They show record of two customers having the weak start problem. They replaced the #2 gauge wire from the house batteries to the generator starter with a #3 gauge wire. I will be doing that soon.
Thanks
Jesse

Doesn't make sense to replace with a smaller wire.

Hard to believe Forest City only has two such reports. I guess I must have been one of the two back 2011 (finally getting it fixed in Forest City in 2013). Don't remember the gauge wire that was in it, but it went through 4 connecting post between house batteries and genet. The tech replaced with a (what he told me) #4 cable direct connection. Whatever size he put in did the trick and has worked flawlessly ever since.

I found Winnebagos comment interesting as well. My coach too was upgraded at Forest city. I belevie others have posted they have had the repair as well. Perhaps we are missing some context in their reply to Jessie's inquiry.
