2004 Winnebago Journey - Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller

So I bought the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller for our 2004 Winnebago Journey 34H. I also ordered what I thought was the correct harness to fit the Freightliner chassis.

I found the chassis harness/connector by the steering column and plugged the adapter into the chassis harness and then into controller. No power to the controller. Then I repinned the adapter harness to get power to the controller but no trailer brakes and when trying to backup with the trailer the trailer brakes grab very aggressive. I have the controller at the lowest setting.

Can someone please provide a chassis side wire diagram for the brake controller wiring? The trailer brakes work when its behind my truck but not when behind the coach. Here is how I think I have it setup so far.

Coach wires Prodigy Controller Wires
Brown: not used?
Black: White wire - Ground wire for controller
Red 36G: Red wire - Brake switch
Red 14T: Blue wire
Red/White: Black wire

Per this post on iRV2:

Quote:
The brake controller wiring circuits are as follows (Source: Freightliner Tech Support and confirmed on Freightliner schematic):

Circuit 36G = Brake Light Signal (activated by brake pedal NOT exhaust brake), Red with White tracer, 18ga

Circuit 36T = Trailer Signal (this is Freightliner's terminology, although this is the outbound power lead TO the trailer brakes), Red with White tracer (yes it IS the same color code), 12ga wire (that's how you tell 'em apart)

Circuit 29A = Illumination light (if controller has backlighting), Brown

Circuit 14T = +12v supply to controller, Red (this is a 12ga wire)

Circuit (not numbered) = Ground, Black
So, the pinouts should be:

Code:
Purpose Coach wires Prodigy Controller Wires
Illumination Brown circuit 29A Not used
Ground Black White
Brake signal Red/White 18 AWG circuit 36G Red
Trailer signal Red/White 12 AWG circuit 36T Blue
12V supply Red 12 AWG circuit 14T Black

Thank you very much!

Ok. So I verified my connections are correct. I then went into troubleshoot mode of the prodigy and get a reading of 12.7v at the controller, 12.6v when the brake pedal is pushed down, but only 2.1v on the output with the controller turned to 14.0

"I verified my connections are correct."

Post #1 shows the 12V supply and trailer signal wires were incorrect, per post #2. Did you swap and test them before you plugged in the controller?

My thought were incorrect on 1st post. My connections match your post. The 7 Pin connector from the coach must be incorrect as my brakes lock up in when the coach is in reverse. There are 8 wires back there. I now would like how that is to be wired.

The pinout listed at this link as "Vehicle-Side 7-Way/7-Way RV Standard" is the one you want for a standard RV 7-blade connector

Pay attention to the signals at the pins; the colors of the wires may be different than shown in any particular situation

I may have it figured out. There are 8 wires going to the hitch for the 7 pin connector. I have them identified as:
10or12g Red: 12v Aux Power with key on
Green: RH signal/brake lights
Yellow: LH signal/brake lights
Brown: Running lights
Red/white stripe: trailer brake output
Blue: Backup Lights
Black: Ground
2nd Black: ?

The previous owner thought the blue wire of the coach was trailer brake wire but in reality was backup lights which would explain brake power when in reverse!
