12V Power for Dashcam

2016 View G. Where is a good (easy) place to get switched 12V for my dashcam. I don’t want to keep using the receptacle. I’d like to wire it in.

I went directly to the fuse panel for power. Look up add-a-fuse adapters on Amazon. I buy them 5 or 10 at a time (just make sure you buy the correct size). You remove a fuse (switched or unstitched) and insert the add-a-fuse which give you 2 fuses. One will have a pig-tail that you tie into for power. I ran a wire up the a-pillar into a cabinet above the drivers seat, then down behind the TV. It comes on with the power and off when cut out. Works great for me.

Good luck on the wiring project.
If you just want it to shut off when you turn off the vehicle, the 12V receptacle that's in the ashtray pull out is switched. The one underneath is always hot.

Sorry to quote the entire post, but I couldn't have said it better. Exactly what I did cept' I don't have a tv up front, it works flawlessly.

I've done basically same thing. Except from the piggy back add-on fuse I ran that to a relay that powered a 40Amp take off from the battery (fussed at the battery) that ran inside the cab to a 12 position 12v fuse block from Blue Sea. From that I powered a variety of dash add ons, like the dash cam, rear view camera, TPMS, more 12v outlets, etc. All of it on a switched line. All of these wires were run hidden someplace or another. Clean and expandable.
