Lightbulb Winnebago windshield gasket sellers

The gasket on my windshield after 20 years begin to age.

I searched in the web but couldn't find anything useful.

Do any of you know where you can buy these parts?

These are the upper and lower and the central strips rubber.

Regards!

I'm thinking that is going to be Winnebago specific and may require an actual dealer????

Great!!!

The "little problem" is that I am one of four European mad cats who live permanently on a US motorhome!

Did not mean to say it has to be done by the dealer, only that I thought that might be the only spot to order one. But then I may also be missing some other spots, so it does bare further checking.

Try the parts department at Lichtsinn RV. They are on the web. Give them your VIN and they can supply most any part. You might also need the tracks that the molding snaps into unless you can reuse the old ones.

I’d suggest contacting a RV windshield replacement firm locally. You could get lucky.

If the parts are specific (they may be or they may not be) call the WBGO parts dept in Iowa. They may have parts, or part numbers or even the name of the original supplier. Just give them your VIN and serial number.

OK! I will try to follow some of your tracks, including that of the local factories of extruded rubber, there are several that make pieces tailored to the customer... hoping they have affordable prices.

Carglass Trento and VetroCar both do "caravan" windshield replacements near you. I know that there is nothing like your Ultimate Advantage Winnebago even remotely around you. BUT it's possible that the seals and moldings are similar in nature to other off the shelf auto windshield parts.

You never know.

Is it the exterior, black rubber moulding that surrounds the windshield and up the center that you need? If so, it can be ordered from Winnebago or Lichtsinn. It fits into a metal channel and doesn't seal anything, it's primarily cosmetic. It just pulls right out and the new one presses right in without any sealant or adhesive.

Many of us run a strip of Eternabond tape across the top to prevent windshield leaks. Some tape all around.

If you're addressing something that goes between the windshield and frame, I suspect that will involve a professional since the windshield would need to be removed.

That's exactly what I'm talking about.

If it breaks it must also be replaced.

One thing is certain, if I could get it done with a more robust plastic or anodized aluminum maybe it would be better.

So I don't think about it anymore.

I guess I don't understand the problem. It's 20 years old and needs to be replaced. It doesn't cost much and is an easy job. You're then OK for another 20 years.

You might want to lift up the seal at the bottom center of the windshield and at the top as well, and with a flashlight peak under the seal and see if the steel frame is rusty.

A common problem with the Winnebago's is the factory didn't paint and seal the steel frame well enough and it rusts very badly. It is not unusual to find parts of the frame rusted through.

If that happens then the windshield has to be removed and the metal ground down, treated for rust, painted and then the windshield put back in. I have read it is not always possible to get the windshield out w/o breaking it.

I went there too.

But that's a job I've already done.

I wonder and ask you: when it comes to sensitive and important areas, what does it cost Winnebago to use stainless steel? Even stainless steel screws?

How much more would an RV cost? $ 200? $ 400? Who cares!

If I can spend 200-300,000 to buy an RV, I can also add $ 400, but please use stainless steel or duralumin where needed!

Back in the 1950's & 60's, perhaps 70's cars had problems with the lower panels rusting through. That is pretty much a thing of the past.

That tells me, it is not a problem with using steel, it is an issue of Winnebago not properly treating the steel frame the windshield mounts on.

Proper treatment and painting should only cost $5-$10, if that much, on a mass produced product.

(1) For ANY Winnebago owner - call Winnebago first! I have always found them to be tremendously helpful and one of the key benefits of owning a Winnebago product. They will not only give you great advice, but can also sell you parts directly. But more specifically -
(2) A gasket implies a compressible material that usually fits between 2 parts to make a tight seal which will keep fluids in and/or fluids out. There is no gasket between your windshield and body. Instead, as with most windshields, they are fitted with a hardening, flexible sealant such as urethane between the glass and body. This material not only seals out water but also bonds the glass to keep it in place.
(3) What you may be referring to are the visible outer rubber trim pieces which fit in the gap between the edge of the windshield glass and the visible, painted body. These are usually specific to the manufacturer, and should be readily available directly from Winnebago. Give 'em a call!

FYI for HappiHenri. Winnebago no longer sells parts direct to their customers!

Did not know this. I have ordered various items from them several times, though not for the last 1 1/2 years. I hope this is not their new policy because I value their direct customer service (tech advice and parts) greatly.
