Winnebago Micro Minnie 2106DS repair

I'm sure other owners on this site have had this issue just looking at ways to correct it. Both sides come off while trailering and I wasn't sure what people are doing to correct it. My thought was to run a very small bead of adhesive on each side either the entire length or just a few places. What would be a good product to use? Thank you in advance.

Robert

"Both sides come off" ? Both sides of what? Can you tell us what you're having a problem with? And... specifically what exactly is your photo illustrating? Is that a side seal? Or What?

It's the plastic part that covers the seam screws if that makes sense

Oh, the RV Trim Insert Moulding. I don't think that's usually a problem. In fact, I had to remove and replace some once and it was such a tight fit it was difficult to put on.

I'd think you could use some dabs of silicone underneath it. As long as it's not so much that you couldn't remove the trim piece if needed.

If your Trim Moulding is weak and or floppy you can replace it with thicker. Just be aware that the thicker you use the more difficult it is to fit in the track.

You can get new trim moulding at lots of places. Just be sure to get the correct width and the correct shape that corresponds to what you have now.

Here's one at eTrailer... but I have no idea if it's the correct size for your trailer:

Thanks for your reply it's been crazy hot out here like in other parts of the country and it seem to have gotten really soft and came out of the track I noticed it right away and pulled off and slid it back in and went through a pop up rain shower and it seemed really snug after that. Then the same thing happened again when it I was traveling and it was really hot outside. I thought about replacing it but it's connect on the top of the trailer with a good amount of sealant over it. So if I wanted to replace it that would require to take up the old sealant on the roof and replace it along with replacing the roof sealant back again correct?

Yes, that's correct.

I live in South Texas, so... HOT. When we had TTs we never had a similar issue but then we had white screw tracks and white vinyl insert trim, too.

I don't understand the way RV designers put black plastic pieces on the outside of of RVs -- hello? Black? Sun? Heat?

Black vs White trim

I imagine that most of the construction of trim pieces being either black or white is that black 'plastic' pieces stand up to solar degradation better than white. Have you noticed how longer black tie-wraps last vs white ones? And black polyethylene films last much longer in sunlight than white ones.
I imagine that is the primary consideration for the composition of these pieces.

Same thing happened to me with my MM first trip out a couple summers ago. My dealer gave me a new package of molding. I replaced both front sides after cutting to the “proper” taught length. Finally sealing with self leveling caulk, also provided by the dealer. Pretty easy fix and haven’t had a problem with it since.
I believe that factory length is too long and weather, vibration and road wash/wind sets it free to flap against the trailer while rollin down the highway.
Good luck!

Rubber trim

Again, same thing happened to me on one side of my camper. I fed the rubber piece back into the fitting with gorilla glue and all is fine. Probably not the best way, but it’s what I had at the time on the road to keep it from flapping. Hasn’t come apart yet and that was last year that fixed it.
