Winnebago, 02 chassis air?

My air on the 32 ft. Winnie on a workhorse chasse, the
Freon has contaminated the ozone, I WILL hug a tree!

But what I need to know, so I can tell my AC tech
just how many lb. and oz. does the system hold?
He said he installed 2.5 oz. and it does not seem to
be up to par.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have to
take it back tomorrow........coop

There is usually a sticker up front. 2 1/2 ounces won't do squat. Mine required 28 ounces to work correctly when I fixed it.

My erra, that was 2 lbs. 8 oz. or (2 and a half lbs.)
Now I question myself, is a lb. of Freon, 16 oz.?
A mind is a terrible thing, how I miss mine!....coop

Which is heavier: a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?

You may not find a correct answer online, because the portion of the system provided by WCC and the parts connected to them by WBGO is not an exact science.
I'm thinking you need a good AC tech that can determine how much the system needs based on the high side and low side pressures. Good luck.

So true edgray, but when you are on the road, you play the hand
that is dealt you. I will try to get in touch with my tech before I
take it back in tomorrow. This is not rocket science......coop

I simply use refrigerant W/sealant in a can that has a pressure gauge on the valve. I add refrigerant until the gauge reads full and stop. I've done that with every vehicle I've owned, including our MH. The A/C works great, cools great, and haven't needed to add more since.
I bought the large can from WalMart that includes the gauge, then buy small cans to fit the gauge head afterwards.

Get a dial probe thermometer (available at any auto parts store) and put it in the passenger side vent. Put your settings on max A/C. If your system is filled up to it's rated capacity you should get a temp reading of around 48*to 42* and the compressor will continue to run. If it starts and stops and your temps are not in that range you system is more than likely low on freon, but there could be other issues also. That's the simple test.

If you go to the Evans Tempcon website they list the amount of Freon needed in various RV air conditioning systems.

Evans Tempcon, Inc

You won't have to hug a tree for the AC leak because it's R134A which is "environmentally friendly". However if you ever drive the motorhome you may have to hug a tree for leaving a carbon foot print.

Got in touch with Winnie, with the last 8 digits of vin he said 2 lbs.
So the tech went with 2 lbs. Thanks everyone for the input.
Could not find the leak, said may be in the compressor. They
installed a dye so WHEN it leaks down there should be a tale
tale sign.....coop

Yes the high side Schrader valve was a problem on the GM compressors. When I had my 05 Winne Voyage it kept leaking down. I finally replaced the compressor because a bearing in the clutch was singing when the compressor was off. That cured the problem.
