Wholesale Warranty Extended Service

Just had a go-around with the claims people at Wholesale Warranty over coverage. It seems they cover the Transmission but NOT the Transmssion Cooler.

Have my Forza in for general service and a leak was discovered in the Tranny Cooler which will have to be replaced.

Needless to say I'm not thrilled with Wholesale Warranty and their lack of coverage. Evidently the part has to be listed on the policy to be covered. I was led to believe I had coverage for ALL major parts as the unit was still under Winnebago Warranty when purchased March 2021.

All I can say is BUYER BEWARE.

Sorry but it is true of many warrenties. They list what sounds like a lot of parts that are covered but that is because most of us don't recognise how many are NOT listed!

This is the gotcha of Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. It covers only what it covers. There are two types of contracts - exclusionary and inclusionary. One lists all the things that are included, the other all the things that are excluded. It's much easier to look at an exclusionary policy's coverage because everything is included EXCEPT the items listed.

Inclusionary contracts cost less than exclusionary when it comes to Extend Service Insurance.

I got the warranty from Wholesale warranties as well, 4 years and I am halfway into it with no claims yet. I only got the powertrain warranty and the wording on it is that it covers "all lubricated parts". I wonder if the cooler is covered because it does get fluid passing through it but can you call that lubricated? Surely it doesn't need lubricating but just the same it is getting lubricated so I would call it a lubricated part. Look at your warranty wording to see if it has the "lubricated parts" phrasing, if so I would fight it.

I see this a lot, extended warranties is just not for me unless you can get one dirt cheap. I have heard of some people cancelling their ESP and getting a pro rated refund. It may be enough to cover the tranny cooler? I have $5k set aside for any repair I must have; so I basically self insure. I don't have the time nor patience to deal with those warranty companies when I need help. The claims agent's job is to not pay unless it is clear cut part of their warranty. Then you get the other hassles like deductibles, who can fix, where, and issues with quality of work performed. With lien laws the way they are in Texas, I never put any vehicle in for ANY service unless I am willing to pay in full.

I have an exclusionary policy and have had great success with it. I’d only get an exclusionary because of that.

You would... I wouldn't. Doesn't matter what you and I "think" it only matters what the insurance adjuster thinks and we know who's side he's on.

Perhaps check the fine print for provisions on lubricated non lubricated specified parts

More info

Apparently my “TOTAL” coverage policy is not total in coverage. Transmission section specifically mentions case and names internal parts BUT does not state “transmission cooler”.

As it’s not printed on paper they’re denying coverage. Spoke with a supervisor too and got no satisfaction.
Not what I expected on my first claim from a company that claims we fight to get your claim covered.

We will never again buy an extended warranty. Ours was recommended through our rv dealer. When the turbo boosters failed, they refused to pay as it could not be determined why they failed. It was an over $10,000 repair. They have themselves totally protected from paying out claims while taking in premiums.

The majority of folks will never see any of the ESP plans as financially favorable. If they did, all of the ESPs would fold just like SVB bank.

If you go to Vegas and return with a net gain (regardless of how big or how small) do you really think it was because you made a wise decision up front and thus the outcome? Coming out ahead when gambling is Lady Luck. Whether the failures you may have in a RV is covered is also Lady Luck. But make no mistake about it, as in the Casinos, the ESPs have done the math on the probability of failures and the policies they offer are designed so that they win most of the time.

The people that sell the warranty plans have no tie to the adjusters who review the claims when they come. Might as well be two different companies and in many ways it is. The Salesman @ Dealers and the Claims Specialist @ ESP who specialize in finding why your claim is not covered.

For the life of me, some people insist they cannot afford to NOT have a ESP I have never had it explained to me why? So you pay more money for a product day 1 because you don't view to have money at some day in the future?

There are two types of coverage inclusion and exclusion.

You can get a warranty that covers only what is listed "inclusion" or a warranty that covers everything that isn't "excluded".

The problem with inclusion warranties is the set outside the inclusion is very large and unless you are very familiar with your coach you can have surprises.

Exclusion warranties are much easier to know what will be covered because it is everything not listed and the list is typically only a page long.

I final cavoite is consequential damage. If you don't have consequential damage and a warranty part fails and causes other damage only the failed part will be covered.

So for the best coverage you will want an exclusion warranty with a reasonable list of exclusions and consequential damage coverage.

Guess what. That's the most expensive warranty.
