What are these on top of front cap?

Attached are 2 pictures. The first is a shot of the front cap showing my CB antenna pushed down and the AM/FM antenna busted off. (long story so I won't go into that.)

The question is that on each side of the Sirius radio antenna are 2 items I don't know what purpose they serve. I have added a second close up picture of one of them. They both look the same for the most part.

This is one of the unidentified items.

Well, it looks like a washer glued down to the front cap. Why? Why, indeed? It looks to have been there a while, some rust showing. Did you buy this used? If so, can you contact the original owner?
Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Was also thinking it was a steel washer. Maybe glued there to be a base for some sort of magnetic antenna base, like a CB? Just guessing, can't quite tell how large it is from the photo.

x2. A steel washer as a base for a magnetic antenna.

I bought it used this spring. It came from the factory pre-wired for a CB including antenna so I don't know why these would be there for that and it already has an AM/FM antenna along with Sirius.

I haven't seen any literature to indicate something else that would make sense to me right now.

Thanks for your input, maybe some other ideas can pop up.

On the picture of the front cap starting on the left corner there is already a CB antenna...washer...Sirius antenna...washer...AM/FM antenna (Broken off above flange)

I just looked at the specs fische for your RV. Go here...

2006 Catalog Menu

and look at page 7 in the PDF. (Good reference for you to hang on to...)

The center antenna (radio), the Sat antenna on the left in your photo and the CB antenna on the corner are all standard. Nothing shows between them like in your photo.

Whatever they are, they are not standard equipment.

I would guess that the washers are glued down and probably won't come off without damaging the roof.

My guess would run along the lines of something like a base for a thermostat probe or maybe and external antenna for wireless internet reception.

Maybe the previous owner had the same experience with the built in antenna as I did - it was virtually useless. I installed another. The easiest fix is a glued down iron plate to attach a magmount antenna. Fiberglass bodies and ground plane antennae are a bad combo.

Maybe its part of the "washer" and dryer hookup?

Marine XM/Sirius antennas are a good way to go. They are designed to work without a metal ground plane. This is the one I used Marine XM Low Profile Antenna, this is perfect as it provides a low profile water proof install. I have also used the Terk Marine Antenna .

My guess is that the washers were glued there to hold something magnetically. Could be a flag, antenna, cover, only the installer will ever know for sure. Just another unsolved mystery!

My thinking also.. looks to have been there awhile too as the roof showing in the middle is different than the rest.

We've had fun imagining uses, but do you plan to leave them? I'd suggest trying to remove them to prevent rust streaks. Any future antenna could be fastened by adhesive instead of magnets and washers.

Dont think I would try to remove them.. Could coat them with a clear elastomeric coating such as Ultima or Through the Roof..
