weather pro awning

I have a weather pro awning and when I enable the wind sensor I get a beeping sound from the control box. In the manual it says if it beeps there is an issue with the wind sensor so unplug it an if continues to beep under normal operation this would indicate a issue with the wind sensor.

Whats normal operation this dosnt make sense please someone help

Welcome to the forum. That's a good question. Hopefully someone can answer it. Dometics # is 800-544-4881. Please update us when you can. Good luck.

Hi Denny1949,
Welcome to the forum. The beeping sound is the kiss of death for the wind sensor. Consider unplugging the sensor for a few days. This should be a time of sunshine and no rain. The sensor is sensitive to getting wet! When wet it will not work and the unit beeps. Once you feel the sensor is dried out, plug it back in. If the beep does not appear, you now understand the problem and the fix. If the beep returns, the sensor is broken and will need to be replaced or remain unplugged.

Also be aware that the sensor beeps if it's too cold out, in which case you should just turn it off until the temperature is warmer.

Such things are notorious for being too sensitive or not enough so.
My awning is out in good weather, and in at night and when away.

Since you are posting on the WI forum, I'm guessing that you have a WI coach. My old coach (2003 Journey DL) had a problem with the wind sensor that no one, including A&E and Winnebago factory could figure out.

They threw every part at it, but the problem remained. I finally traced the fault to the harness that Winnebago uses. They make their own and couple it to the A&E harness at each end. One of the connectors (Winnebago) had a crimp that made intermittent contact.

You may have received more responses if this had been posted in the General Class A thread. Just about every one has Dometic awnings.

Anyhow! Welcome to the forum. I have never had a beeping problem so I have no cure.

I was told by a rep at a rally that the sensor and board need to be replaced as a pair.

Some folks have drilled a hole near the bottom of the sensor housing to drain out water.

The pair bit was true for the older units. The newer ones can be programmed separately. I think that they changed over around 2007.
