Turn off Residential Refer?

Anyone know how to turn off a Maytag 3 drawer refrigerator that comes in the Tour? I know I can turn off the breaker, but would like to use the door controls that should turn it off. Thanks for any help!

PS: It's a complicated life when you have to ask how to turn something off. Have we really advanced ourselves or just gotten dumb and dumber?

Press the Freezer (+) pad until OFF appears in the display. Neither compartment will cool. Press the Freezer or Refrigerator (-) pad to turn the cooling back on.

Thanks, but that didn't work for me and Maytag just shrugged and said to unplug it. Does that actually work for you or are you just quoting the manual? Is there a certain way to "hold your tonque" when pressing the pad?

PS: Do you keep pushing the pad until off appears?

On ours, as you press the button, the temp setting goes up until it finally registers off on both the freezer and refer side.

Thanks!!! I quit pressing as soon as the temp started up. I never dreamed that continued pushes would eventually lead to "off". That's why kids do so well on computers-they keep pushing buttons until something works or it breaks.

I said press "until" off appears. How much clearer can that be?

Well now that you mention it, the manual could have said "continue" to press until "off" comes on for us old farts that read the instructions but don't just press buttons to see what happens. Obviously that is a shortcoming in my genetic makeup.

PS: one of the ways I read the instructions was to press the button until "off" appeared, so I held the button down for at least a minute and nothing happened. Nothing is as clear except to the one that figures it out.
