Sunstar/Vista Weird Leak
Hi,
I have a 2015 26HE Vista. I had small puddle on LH dash after heavy rain. Removed upper compartment panels and found the steel crossmember structure was wet in one spot, with drips from that spot falling down to dash.
Everything up in that area except for an isolated spot on the steel crossmember was dry. Nothing coming in from the clearance light area, radio antenna, or anything else related to the skin of the coach was wet. And the windshield itself is not leaking.
Then I noticed a screw coming through the steel frame toward me from the front of the coach. Sure enough, looking very closely, a tiny trickle of water leading from the screw threads down the steel frame where it pooled and waited to drip down further onto the dash.
So looking at the outside of the coach, that screw must be behind the wide rubber molding overlapping the windshield and the roof cap. Water from the roof flows down and into the gap between the molding and the roof cap, where it collects and follows the screw threads inside.
On my Vista on the driver side that gap is huge, maybe 1/4 inch at some points, easily allowing water to get behind the molding.
Does anyone have experience fixing this?
The molding on my Vista is obviously not seated correctly for about 10-12 inches at the extreme LH side.
So I think I need to take it off, find that screw, caulk around it, and put the molding back on seated properly.
Can anyone advise how to remove the molding, including getting the A-pillar trim piece off (no bolts showing)?
Any other tips/experience out there?
Thanks!
-Ken
