Sooooo today I was out in the motorhome banging around doing some work, when one of the 2 front speakers (passenger side) in the brow, between the front shades and the windshield, suddenly dropped and was suspended by its 2 power wires. After dismissing the idea it was ghosts , I recognized all 4 plastic screw flanges on the speaker frame that held the speaker frame up to its mounting had broken off allowing the speaker to fall. Closer inspections revealed the screws and the flanges that formerly were part of the speaker remained attached to the panel the speaker had been fixed to.
Clearly it was a combination of the mounting screws being over tightened on brittle plastic, accompanied by the occasional rough ride in an F53 that created the failure.
No doubt I could have remounted the existing speaker with the same screws with larger washers but I went ahead and bought a new speaker. They are pretty common and available from many vendors. I think I paid about $13.00.
Thats was todays broken Winnebago part. Can't wait to see what fails tomorrow!!!
