Stud placements?

Needing stud placement advice. Would there be vertical studs running by the side of the window frames? Do the studs have a 16” or 24” centers? Would there happen to be a reference point on which to measure back from the front to estimate stud location?

Why do you have to replace studs.....aren't yours made out of aluminum?

He wants to know where they are, not replace them..

Look from outside on a dewy or frosty morning, they will sometimes cast thermal shadows.

A density type stud finder may work, haven't tried.

There really aren't regular studs. You can see an example of the structure below.

Email owner relations, they can send you pdf copies of the wall drawings. You'll be able to see exactly whats in your walls.

RV's are not generally built like houses. "On Center" seems to be a foreign concept in the RV industry.

I haven't tried it, but some say you can use a magnet for a stud finder. Don't know if it's true. They say a strong magnet on a string you can find the screws in the wall and obviously the screws are into the studs. The "Studs" are aluminum so you won't find those with a magnet that's for sure.

If you call Winnebago, they can email drawings to you that show not only the framing locations but the locations of various metal plates that are inserted in the wall in strategic locations for mounting various fixtures. The drawings are not to scale but should give you a good idea of where to look.

And yes, the windows and doors are framed. A non-magnetic stud finder or metal detecting wand from Harbor Freight should work. Better yet, although relatively expensive, is a cell phone app like this:
