What is the best source for blind string? How do you determine the length needed to re-string a blind?

I realize some people have moved to a larger size string. Is that a good idea or does it complicate the re-stringing?

See my other reply. I have enough string to do everyone's blind on the Winne form from the one roll but it works great and was easy to get from Lowes or similar. Easy to install using Scotch tape.

Contact me if you have questions.

This won't be much help if you want to do it tomorrow, but I ordered my string from here. I ordered the 1.2mm TAN string and it was a perfect match for the original.

They have a way of determining how much you need on that page, but I just went ahead and ordered the 300ft. roll. I knew I'd have to do more later. Sure enough, I've done 4 now and still have some string left. If your DW doesn't have a big needle to loan you, order theirs ($1) - makes it much easier.

Good luck! The 1st one is the toughest!

Shelly got a roll from a local Jo-Ann fabric store when we re-strung one of our blinds.

I also got mine a the local Jo-Ann fabric store. Just take a piece of the old string with you because they have many diameters of white cord.

I bet if you called Lichtsinn Motors in Forest City and gave them your model and color style, they could ship you the exact cord and an exact color match. I bought some at Winnebago when there a couple years ago but haven't had to use any yet. Thought I had calculated the amount for one blind and bought enough for 3 blinds, did it wrong though and only had half enough for each blind, so may just have enough for 2 blinds with the extra I had added on.
