Silverleaf VMSpc- Where is that darn plug?

Hi Everyone - I am looking at ordering the SilverLeaf VMSpc adapter for my laptop to monitor the engine becuase I really don't have enough things to look at as I drive down the road but I can't find the diagnostic port/plug under the steering column. I crawled under there this weekend but didn't see it. I wanted to see if I needed the 6 or 9 pin version. Does anyone have a picture of where theirs is and what it looks like?

Thanks
Ben

The ScangaugeD plugs into the same connection. Click this link and the two different plugs are shown half way down the screen on the right.

Thanks mbrandt1402. Thats kinda of what I thought it looked like. Now I'm just hoping someone with the same/similar coach can tell me where it is. There is a huge bundle of wires tie wrapped there and I hated to release that mess if I didn't have to. From other posts it sounds like it is clipped to the wall somewhere. I do like the price of the ScanGaugeD a little more!

I just installed the scangauge d this past weekend in my 2004 Journey 34H.
Mine was behind the steering wheel bolted to the firewall. Took me 3 times looking before i found it. it is well hidden.

hope this helps.

In mine it is below the dash left of the collum, it had a cap on it. Grayish/brown in color.

On my 02 Ultimate

It is located behind the kick panel on the lower left of the steering column. Pain in the a$$ to get the kick panel off and then back on. It is a carpeted piece of metal and I have to lift the edge of the glued down carpet to get to the screws.

Thanks lenp! Are you talking about the wedge shaped foot rest thing on the floor for the left foot? I did move mine but there was some box for the surround sound system on the back side of it. Maybe the plug was there and I just didn't look close enough?? And yes the carpet makes it a pain to get the screws back on. Heck who needs all those screws. 1 should hold it

Totally different coach, but on my Freightliner it was to the RIGHT of the steering column tucked up over a defrost duct.

Remove the kick panel and get a flashlight. Mine was on the left side of the steering column on the firewall. Look for a grey round cap.

Mine is mounted high on the firewall to the left of the steering column, almost to the left wall. By moving wire bundles and heater ducts around I can see it but not reach it from below. I removed the instrument panel top cover and I could reach it but not see it from above. I connected the cable from above and left the wire sticking out from the cover to connect to the USB port on my computer. There should be an identical connector in the engine compartment so you can verify the type and number of pins.

Thanks everyone I will go on another hunting expedition this weekend. I think I was frightened off from poking around too much by the mass of cables under there. After looking at the ScanGuage web site I'm starting to think I may go that route due to the cost difference. Although the VMSpc looks really cool!

I also hooked up the VMSpc on my 04 Journey, 36G had to really look for the plug, took me 2 or 3 times. Mine was same as others have said, mounted in a bracket on the firewall a few inches above the floor, can't remember if it was directly behind the steering shaft or offset a little, but it is behind a bundle of wires. Mine was the larger of the two adapters. Hope that helps!
