Rooftop AC Units

Ours is a 2004 Sightseer 35n

I'm trying to figure out which air conditioners are on the roof and their BTU ratings. This was a new model in 2004, the only brochure I can find on the Winnebago website does not give the BTU ratings.

Would anyone happen to know the answer? I know they are Coleman Mach 8000 series, but no idea which ones. Is there a way to tell if I take off the cover?

Thanks,

Hi Matt,
If they are the original units, the coach has 2 rooftop units each rated at 14,800 btu. All the specs are available on the Winnebago Industries site.

winnebagoind.com/resources/brochure/2004/04=sightseer-bro.pdf

cheers,
Joopy

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

The brochure from the website lists the 35n as having 2 high efficiency units. It's the other models that have the 14,500 BTU AC unit. I found a number and finally got thru to Winnebago, they looked up my coach and told me they are 9600 BTUs each, so each draws 2814 watts.

I was just curious. My 3000 watt inverter and battery bank would run 1 of them for about an hour

Hummmm! That is the size usually put in Class B
The smallest Fleetwood puts in a A are Coleman PS 11K

And the smallest Coleman 8000 series is a 11K unit.
Also a 8000 have a 13.5K and a 15K units cool or cool/heat

Try this..Inside the motor home.. You need

1 Towel
1: Screwdriver (#2Phillips most likely or #2 Square)
1: Flashlight

Remove intake filter(s) use towel to catch anything that falls off

Remove screws (Generally 4) holding lower cover.. Give to other half for cleaning

USE flashlight to shine straight up.. Good chance you will see the TOP UNIT ID tag with Make, Model, Size, Power needs and such all clearly printed.. May need towel to dust off a bit.

Replace cleaned cover
Replace cleaned filters

Job Done.

I believe Winnebago maintains a Control Document or Build Document on file for each coach they manufacturer. As such, a call to the Winnebago Service Advisors should result in your getting the make, model and serial number for each original A/C unit installed. They may also be able to answer questions about suitable replacement units. Their number is: 800-537-1885

My 35N had units that drew about 13 amps each. That is about 1500 watts.
