Roof vent cover

Ok, I have a 2010 Tour 42AD. I wanted to install vent covers over the two roof vents so we didn't get any rain in the coach if we left them open. I ordered two MaxxAir II's from Camping World and went to install them yesterday only to find out that my powered vent cover opens higher than the MaxxAir II can accomodate. The MaxxAir II allows for 9" of height and my powered vent cover opens to 14" of height. Obviously it won't work and would require me to manually open the cover to stay within the 9" clearance. Anyone else have this issue and have you come up with a better solution? I would be nice to be able to flip the switch rather than manually opening the vent.

I just installed 2 Fantastic Fan covers , 1 on my unit and 1 for a friend.
Even though they are from the same company that build the fans , they don't allow the cover to fully open either, about 1 1/2" low. They are rated as a 5% restriction of air flow.
However, the auto raise mechanism of the power lid is load sensitive and will stop the motor when contact occours, without damage to the lid or cover.
BTW. your avatar picture sends shivers up my spine.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that the motor is load sensitive and will shut itself off on contact. Building a garage for the MH because it gave me shivers too!

I like the way you think. Retiring in October and that is exactly what is going to happen. Want to buy a snow shovel?

Gave my last one to the guy who bought my snowmobiles and trailer.
Now I retreat south as soon as I have to scrape my windshield; ice scraper I kept.
BTW. you could forgo the RV shed and use to money you save on fuel.

Yep, the Fantastic Fans will stop if something restricts them from opening all the way. I put the covers on a few years ago and haven't had any problems with the Fantastic Fans under them.

I can confirm that the lid will stop on it's own when it hits the cover. We've been using the same setup on both of our fans for over a year fulltime and it's still just fine. Fantastik may say not to do it but it works well.
