Roof sealants

Are the roof sealants listed on callout sheets available only through Winnebago? They list two for the skylight. Part # 131264-03-01A and 131264-01-02A.

.....01A is NuFlex self leveling silicone. ...02a is silicone, probably also NuFlex.

Silicone won't stick to itself, nor will anything else,

If you are having problems, the best thing to do probably is remove ALL of it, including under the skylight if it was glued down to that as well.

If it were me, I would then replace the skylight with butyl tape between it and the roof, and then use self leveling Dicor rather than silicone of any sort to seal the edges and screw heads. That's what I've done to all my old and new roof penetrations.

Others here may disagree with me.

I've been unable to find Sealant Call-out Sheets that are specifically for the Minnie TT. Any guidance as to where these can be found?

The call out sheets will get you to the class of sealants but there are several options out there. It would help to know if you have a fiberglass roof or rubber. As someone mentioned above in my case the call out sheet calls for a silicone sealer, this will be hotly debated as a good or bad choice, this is just my opinion. My fiberglass roof was originally manufactured using silicone. This is a good choice at original install, its durable lasts a long time. but when it comes to ongoing maintenance its a poor choice. As mentioned above you cannot re apply it unless you remove all existing silicone and residue, its difficult to do correctly. If there is any left over silicone the new product will not stick to it, and you cannot do simple repairs laying new over old. nothing will stick to old silicone.

So when it came time for me to reapply, i totally striped it and used Dicore its not silicone but its way easier to work with and you can apply new on top of old for temporary repairs.

Silicone is great on the original build as you are applying it to virgin fiberglass. that will not be your experience. Generally you use a self leveling product only on horizontal surfaces.

On my rig i used Manis bond 75 on the seam between the roof and the rain gutter. Again this is just my opinion applying to my rig.

Great information, thanks. However, still trying to locate the actual Sealant Call-out Sheets that are specifically for the Winnebago Minnie travel trailer models. Any help will be much appreciated.

I used 3m marine adhesive sealant 5200 on the repairs I did to my Outlook. Not cheap but better then most sealants on the market.

Self leveling Dicor is a good sealant and is what was used on the roof of my Winny MH. Lasts very well and with the self leveling, you can "glob it on" and it will level out.

Be aware that 3m 5200 is a permanent adhesive and not intended for the purpose that the OP was asking about.

Indeed!

3M 4200 fast set would be more appropriate for that purpose. 4200 is a great adhesive sealant but is easier to remove than the 5200 which usually requires the parts to be cut or drilled out except for in those occasions where the material it has bonded too has actually failed and already come apart.

I'm new to the RV world but a long time boater. 5200 is great stuff but permanent. I've hung a 120 hp outboard on a transom held together with 5200.

I used it to seal the upper bunk area above the cab and have no need to remove anytime soon.
