Roof bubble

We have a vista 2015 36y. When we purchased it new there is a 10 year warranty on the roof. 3 years ago we started with a roof bubble which was documented. Now it is starting to lift. Winnebago refused to give us any help saying it is the manufacturer of the roof responsibility. The roof manufacturer says it’s Winnebago responsibility. We are at a stand still and do not know where to turn . Any suggestions or help from the Winnebago community will be appreciated. Larry

Unless the manufacturer can prove that the material is defective then it is an installation issue. These roofs are installed so quickly it’s no wonder there aren’t more problems. Probably a lack of glue coverage bu their whiz bang employees.

Sorry to hear about your roof issue. Is it possible to provide a good description of the bubble and its location on the roof. A picture along with that would do wonders as well.

The bago fiberglass sheet roof has a void along each edge which is about 6 to 8 inches wide and the length of the rig. Under there are a series of foam pieces (icebox foam), fflat pieces and curved pieces.

The sheet is stuck to the whole roof in the middle save the sides, its then tucked into the metal channel and caulked in. One is to maintain that caulk seal diligently same goes for around the windows and fixtures on the side of the rig and the roof of the rig.
Eternabond (no financial or business relation between the product manufacturer or sales locations and me) is a great product. A once and done type thing for the roof line etc. It comes in a tape that can also fix rips in the roof panel etc.
The roof should have a line drawn and no step printed on it toward the edges like they do on air planes, because without that dealer personnel and or service folks, washing operation folks would easily step on the edges thereby flexing the membrane and breaking the seal allowing air to get underneath. The seal at the front and rear cap is also important as while in motion one could get air going under there, the eternabond strip served us well there as well.
Mcguivering is the most resorted to process for fixing design, build and quality issues by customers in this industry and the industry is none too motivated to step up the quality of product design, build or service levels because as Mr. Fields said, theres....
Interestingly the same corps have high quality products across the pond in both directions! Guess those customers or laws are more stringent.. Best of Luck with your roof issue, non fiberglass roofs can be better and worse depending on various things, personally I prefered the fiberglass until I learned the design shortfalls then we switched to metal roof machine. De-lamination is the other major issue in this industry where a ply is used as a backer board for the fiberglass laminated walls.

All the best, hope you get a speedy resolution and are able to use your rig again soon.

I sell homes. And when an issue like this come up in a new home, it’s either a deficiency fault of the product, or the installation, but it’s never the homeowner’s fault and this is not your fault. Don’t let them play the blame game. You need to hold their feet to the fire. A letter from an attorney, which unfortunately it typically takes, will get a rep from Winnebago and one from the roof manufacturer together to hammer it out. But it’s their issue, and unfortunately, your problem. Best of luck. We’re rooting for you!

Are you dealing with Winnebago or a Dealership? I've gotten the runaround from the dealership a number of times however a call to Winnebago's main office usually has gotten the dealer to tow the line.

Winnebago's factory tour video around the 9 minute 40 second mark claims they laminate all their own roof and sidewalls together. If there is a problem then as the manufacturer they should be the ones dealing with defects in that area even if the root cause is the Pilon sheets they they selected to use have failed.

Larry, have you had a chance to take some pics. Post em here, of the issue and of the roof in general to giver perspective of where it is. Also if you can put say a match book or some such object to provide reference of the issue size we can provide focused responses.

All the best
