Removing Leveling Jack Assembly

2000 Winebago Adventurer 35u

had an RV facility replace the fuel pum as I understand it the jacks have toi be dropped...they 'screwed up' too far and no further trust in their Mechanic (certified ? HWH )

The right rear jack is leaking badly can feel they didn't tighten the hose fitting ..left one bolt out and another on with 1/4" thread showing...

How do I drop this jack to fix it

Take it back and make them fix it correctly or you will post them on this web site for doing poor work. Make such a stink that they will be glad to fix it just to have you go away. Don't let the get away with it.

I'm not sure how your jacks are bolted to the frame. My rear jacks are fastened with 6-7/16 bolts that use a 5/8 wrench on the bolt and a 11/16 wrench on the nut. The Hydrualic fittings on mine can also be reached without removing the jack. The jacks are on the outside of the frame adjacent to the fuel tank. You need a fish wire to fish the bolts into the frame holes next to the fuel tank. Then you have to get lucky and hope the bolt head doesn't spin when you tighted. It Helps to have an impact with new bolts and nuts.

Good luck.

Rodney - I'd suggest you take another look at the leaking fitting to see if you can get a wrench to it and try to tighten it. It might take wiggling and fighting it a bit but that might be easier than trying to drop that jack. I tried removing one from a 1991 Safari and found I did not have the strength to break the nuts loose.
