Remove Fireplace

I need to remove my fireplace, but haven't figured out how to get the wood trim off. I'm assuming that is covering some screws behind it. I don't see any nail holes, but they could be there and they just did a good job filling them in. Anyone tried?

If it is like my Tour 42QD you have to pry the trim off on each side. Under the trim are 4 screws that hold it in. I glued some magnets I got from HomeDepot on the back of the trim and it now sticks to the metal of the unit.

Thanks Ron, I'm sure its the same. So when you say pry, what is holding the trim on, screws?

The trim was nailed on using a 1 1/2" air nailer. I could not get them out I had to cut them off. The hardwood trim would not let me get them out. The nails used are too weak to knock out with a hammer.

Atom Ant, Winnebago likes to use 23 gage pin nails to hold trim on. Then they rub filter over the small holes. Get a small pry bar and start working it off being careful not to mar the finish on the face of the cabinet.

Yup. Same thing I ran into on the rear TV cabinet. With a thin putty knife it will pop right off.

Mine won't move if it's cold in the coach.

Appear to have the same Fireplace unit, if made by Patrick. Would be interested in resolution to problem. At least I now know how to remove surrounding trim as it "clanks" over bumps while driving. Very annoying!

It is a Patrick, and they even called me after I inquired about a schematic. He said they are pretty much imports and I wouldn't be able to get parts, rather they would just ship a new one if under warranty (its not). I would't mind installing one of the better dimplex or whatever they use in the new ones with the curved glass.

I didn't get a chance to remove it this weekend, as we spent a couple of scary weeks in the hospital with the DW, but things are improving so I'll have to see if I can sneak out and take a look at it when I winterize.
