Recliners

We would like to change our apparently upgraded couch with air bed to a couple of recliners in our 30T with the buffet option. Watching TV from the couch or front passenger seat with portable foot rests works but like the recliner option better.

Has anyone done this? How easy or difficult is it to get the couch out and the recliners into the coach and anchored? Is there a significant difference in chairs from an RV store or furniture store from the same manufacturer? I have seen where some from RV store have removable backs but not sure on the couch we have.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts

We just recently removed the queen sized sofa and replaced it with recliners. It was a real pain to get the couch out, basically we had to totally disassemble it in the MH inorder to get it out of the door. Lots of nuts and bolts to remove and then it came out in four heavy pieces. We replaced it with standard recliners purchased at a local furniture store. Every recliner we looked at had the removeable back so that was a non-issue with regards to getting it in the MH. Best renovation we ever made.

We did that with our '02 Dutch Star. Took out the regular Hide A Bed and replaced it with two La Z Boy recliners. Hardest part was getting the old bed disassembled and out the door. Both of the recliners had removable backs and we had La Z Boy put a swivel platform on the chairs. Cost us extra but that made them swivel as well as rock and recline.

We did exactly as you plan to do. As previously posted, the couch is some trouble to remove but it does disassemble fairly easily. We went with Lazy-boys swivel rocker recliners. We are very satisfied with the look and comfort. By the way, the chairs ARE NOT anchored.

Note that you want recliners with the lever to raise the footrest to ensure wall away. Love the change in picture. Recliners are easy as you just recline them if difficult to get the back off.

We did the same thing in our 30T. We went with the the Thomas Payne's that they sell at Camping
World. We did not get the middle section with the storage and cup holder but just got the two recliners. I had to anchor them because the recliners would tip over when the foot was extended. These are wall hugger recliners so the weight moves forward as the chair is reclined. It was a PITA and required a lot of effort to pull it off. If you look at how the seat belts are anchored you will see what is required to anchor the chairs the aluminum just would not hold the chairs opening and closing. In hind sight it was worth it for us. The chairs are very comfortable and make viewing the television a lot nicer than before.

We just did this in our Winnie. We bought Lazyboy wall hugger. Our slide was shallow so we bolted 2x4s to the slide and bolted the recliner to the 2x4. Works great. I tried to post a pic but it didn't work. If you would like a pic I can PM it to you.
