Re-leveling with Slides Out or In
I read through a few older threads. Some suggest slides need to be in, while others say out is fine. There is no guidance in my manual for this (HWH system). I decided to try leaving them out because most seem to suggest that by pressing the "auto level" button, it would only effect the pair where the adjustment needs to be made.
When I pressed the button, I was surprised to find that the system went into full retract mode. I stopped the process and brought the slides in at that point for fear of something binding on the Lippert slide mechanisms; and then re-leveled. Since the air bags were already dumped it skipped that step.
I just wanted to share my experience in hopes that it will add some value to those looking for advice on this subject.

My Winnebago manual suggests leveling before extending and retracting before storing or re-leveling, which I usually do.

Definitely, slides in to relevel.
And your Operator's Manual certainly does tell you to level before extending your sides. See section 10:3.

Slides in, always.

I agree, my manual does say to level before extending, but no mention of releveling. Common sense should tell us that would apply to that as well. With quite a few people saying they do it all the time with no problems, I thought I'd give it a try myself. I won't be doing that again.
Thanks for the responses and opinions!

Actually, it does tell you to be level before retracting as well. Same section of the manual just a little further down.
But... you are correct that it makes no mention of RE-Leveling.

Small adjustments can be made in the manual mode. I have done this after being camped and my jacks have settled slightly after some time. Start motor, turn on jack control, enter manual mode and adjust up. No problem. Never retract!

I think this is more about the stress on the slides if you move them while the rig is out of level. They or the motors, gears, cables, etc., are not designed to push or pull the slides uphill. Also being un level can put a lot of stress on whatever is trying to keep the slides aligned, only a few degrees can make a lot of difference.
Once the slides are leveled and then extended, and the rig slowly loses a little level, it is not too much strain on the jacks to adjust slightly.

As mentioned before, small adjustments in manual mode are probably OK with the slides extended, I have done it. I would never use the auto mode as it can move the RV pretty violently (for lack of better terms).

Yes manual mode to re-level or you will have to retract since you can't be sure what gyrations the automated system will go through. Personally even with an automated system I manually level to get the coach set level at the lowest height. To me most automated systems raise the coach too high. Perhaps that is because I've walk with a cane and am more aware of setting the first step off the ground to a kinder level for everyone.

This is what I do. Level. Extend slides. Tweak the level a little more if needed and only up. I've always figured the weight of a large slide changing position means a little tweaking after deployment was unavoidable.
