Power Sofa Bed Adjustment

Somehow the power sofa bed on our 2009 Destination 37' RV came out of alignment. One side ahead of the other... A "repair' person "fixed" it, but now there is a gap when in the bed position between the end of the sofa seat and the foot rest.

It runs on a worm drive and needs to be corrected so that it runs out all the way.

Looking for tech advice on how to manually extend both sides to close this gap. Perhaps run motor disconnected from drive or manually turn the worm drive.???

Thank You,
Adam

Assuming you have the common RestEasy sofa.....

The worm gears run in a cavity in the sofa arms. Remove the arms. Four bolts on each. Accessed from underneath after you have extended the foot rest. The worm and traveler will be attached to the sofa frame. The traveler is plastic (nylon?), sort of tee shaped. Free the keeper and swing the worm out to free the traveler from its track, then rotate the traveler(s) until each is equidistant from the end of its worm. ( Doesn't matter which end of the worms, just the same distance right hand worm and left hand worm. In operation, the motor runs the worms until they reach stops. they just need to reach the stops in unison.)

Then swing the worm/travelers back to their track, replace keeper, replace arms, replace footrest, test run, take pride in another task accomplished!

If you have another brand, principle will be the same.
