I have heard that a lot of the problems are the slides are not completely square, not sure what that means though.

The slides on your 36Y are all less than half the length of the full wall slide on our 2013 Adventurer 32H. The full wall slide on our motorhome is 28+' long. If you look at the 2013 Adventurer brochure you'll see it has all the items in your slide plus a wardrobe and chest of drawers.
I believe the main problem is the tolerance between the hole in the side wall and the slide itself. Our slide has been repaired 3 times and has failed again. The current problem is that the lower rack and pinion on the front of the slide don't engage properly The excessive distance between the pinion and rack allows the pinion to skip teeth on the rack. Consequently the motors get out of time and the slide does not extend or retract evenly.
At times the back will be out 3 or more inches before the front starts to move. On the first day of our current 8 week trip. The slide went out about 6" and stalled. It took several tries to retract it, and it finally came in and sealed. I've tried to extend it several times since then, but the front pinion gears will not engage in the rack. The motor turns, but the gears on the front motor won't engage the rack.
