ODB-II fuse

getting "No Link" when I try to scan code.. Per Autozone, its a blown fuse.. normally cigarette lighter... does anyone know where this fuse might be?

I've checked fuses now and have not found 1 blown.. ideas?

I've never heard of this being fused independent of the controllers and would think that if a fuse was blown you'd have bigger problems.

Let's take a step back. Did you have the ignition switch on?

2014 Winnebago Journey 36M, 360.. Its a Cummins Diesel..

ODB-II is Actron CP9125. I know, its older, but still works..

The ODB-II port is the round 9 pin port.. so I picked up an adapter for the ODB-II...

When I plug in the ODB-II, it comes on, which kinda tells me its not a fuse.. I press READ and it starts trying to scan.. then it pops up with No Link.

Maybe scanner just too old? idk?

This is the point where most folks will ask, "What does it say in the Owner's Manual for the scanner?"

Here's the manual.... search it for "no link".

In that case, the adapter/connector would be my next suspect.

Know anyone else with your motorhome's chassis and OBD II connector that you could try it on? Short of trying that, or a different adapter, I'm stumped.

I would instead look for one that expressly covers diesels, and if possible, your brand.

I have an OBD-II scanner that has added functionality for my Colorado Duramax.

I think the round 9 pin connectors are found more on commercial trucks, but that's just what I read online when searching for "OBD II round 9 pin connection". What chassis is your pusher built on? Maybe they can sort it out for you, if it's Freightliner, Roadmaster, whatever? If Autozone's guys aren't motorhome guys, they might be giving you bad info.

I just googled your rig and it's on a Freightliner chassis I believe?

Goodspike may be right. Skip the tomfoolery and get a Scangauge II. Or the appropriate Scangauge for big diesel engines.

Some of the OBDII round adapters are vehicle specific so you may want to verify that the one you got is Freight-liner Compatible.

Actron is still in business and the CP9125 is a current model so you could contact Actron on whether it needs a specific round Freight-Liner Adapter or possibly a firmware update.

Personally I have become fond of the BlueTooth OBDII readers that work with an Android Phone or Tablet since they usually have a much more informative interface/application that comes with them plus have many custom interfaces/applications available through the Play Store. I use one with the Custom App for my Nissan Leaf plus with a more Generic App for the Gasoline powered vehicles with covers everything from the late 90's to current models. For most people the BlueTooth readers which can be found for less than $20 including shipping will be totally adequate.

Thanks All! I bought a new ODB-II after calling Actron... They said it would not work on newer trucks....
So I cleared the CEL.... which btw was caused by the technician leaving the Oil cap off after last oil change.... I didnt drive far!!

I had a bad feeling when I saw they had the current CP9125 listed with a -C suffix indicating it had possibly be updated a few time and no update link was listed for the firmware.

Did you get a dedicated device or an OBDII reader for your phone or tablet? Now that I have used both for some time now I rarely even use the dedicated OBDII device and have a few OBDII BlueTooth Adapters for the cell phone and tablet that I use.

DataLogging is much easier with the BlueTooth Adapters and they can be had at such little cost its affordable to get one for each vehicle and leave it plugged in all the time so you can in a moment just turn on the app on your phone and check how everything is running real time.
