There are five models of that year Adventurer, so which one you have is important when looking for info.

Here's the Body, 12 Volt Wiring Installation diagram for the 2003 Adventurer 38G. Take a look and see if you can identify the switch you are talking about.

We don't get the best info on the older but see if this makes any sense of what the switch might do?
First idea might be to look carefully to verify, I got the right drawing info!!!
Good luck on the search, it seems like an easy one to miss would be the powered roof vent and lift as I have read about some which are in the bath and fail to open/close correctly, therefore no venting????

I think you have the wrong side of the coach (driver's side vs passenger/door side).

My '04 has two switches in the stepwell area that have a brass plate. One is for the compartment lights, one is for the battery cutoff.
On sheet 5 of the linked (above) drawing, it shows the switches. I attached a clip below. (I don't have the powered awning so I do have the three switch version.)
Is that the switch you're talking about?

That'd be the map light switch.
It's on sheet 1 of the Front End Wiring Installation diagram.
