Microwave Vent

I have a 2004 Adventurer 38 G. The microwave above the stove has a vent, there is a vent opening on the outside of the coach, when I turn on the vent, it recirculates back into the coach, not to the outside, is this normal or do I have a problem.

The vent in on the outside wall is likely for the range hood,, By the way I posted something about that in a thread recently about toasters setting off the smoke alarm (Set toaster near range or on range cover and turn on the hood vent fan)

Microwaves normally vent to the Inside of the rig.

The microwave is vented back to the inside. The range hood should be vented outside.

I only have one switch which is located on the microwave, that turns on the range hood which vents inside, nothing vents outside to the vent on the outside of the coach opposite the location of the range

The hi/lo vent switch on our Sharp Microwave/Convection oven vents to the outside when on.

You may want to check your book, when we had our micro out 3 times in the last 2 years, we remember that you could set something in the back for vented or unvented use. Good Luck

We are in the process of replaceing our GW Profile Microwave and the install instructions say you need to remove the fans in the microwave and reinstall them reversed and rotated in order to get the vent to exit out the back. The new one is shipped to recirculate to the inside and external venting needs to be reconfigured. Search for JVM1790 with Manuals in the pull down box, then select install instructions.
We have the JVM1790 look for Install Instructions.
Yours may not have been installed correctly (It happens on all coaches)
It requires you to remove the oven so be sure it's wrong first. I found that to be no diferant than removing one in the kitchen.
Our range hood and fan is built into the microwave.

Dick has it right the fans have to be turned for outside vent venting.
The Micro's are shipped for top venting.

I assume since you have an 04 you have the Sharp , if you can't find the install instructions, send a PM and I will look for ours, I don't recall reversing the fan.

The Sharp can be set up either way. My '904 Allegro Bus had it set up to recirculate and vent inside while my '03 Suncruiser was set up to vent outside. I sure don't miss the rattling noise of my vent flappers when it got windy.
