Kwikee Step Gears

Has anyone had an issue where the gear on the step motor was mis-aligned or too far enough away from the step’s gear to work up and down reliably?

Have a 2014 Vista 31KE with Kwikee Revolution Double Electric Step #9010000464 and the steps work, but the motor gear will spin before catching the step gear at the beginning and ending of their travel range.

(there’s good voltage, the step switch and magnet work fine and consistently)

Thanks in advance.

Nope. I DO NOT have any personal experience with this issue, but I will be looking forward to your summary after you fix your step.

However, I do have some information in my tech library about replacing gear(s), but I don't know if it applies to your step model? So, you need to verify this information to know if it applies to your needs:

This may lead you to a solution or it may not. (See last picture below and good luck fixing your step.)

From amequipment.com

1 # 412-1055 EACH Pinion $9, 9 Tooth, 19.05 Pitch
Dia., 13.3mm Double "D", PM

From Lippert components,

1 # 369354 STEP WLDMT ELEC GEAR 8.38 X 5.57 $120

This was substantially less than what some were telling me I had to buy the whole step Assy for about $500. I was also told that I couldn’t buy the pinion without the motor, which was not true.

So with this knowledge I saved a lot of $$$.

That's a different style than I have. Your motor and step gear (I think) is mounted in the middle of the step assembly, where mine is mounted closer to the right sider of the step, toward the front of the coach. From the information I've seen, yours is a better design. Thanks for the response and info, though.

Yes... sorry about that. I now see your Revolution Step mechanisms are different.

Nevermind.... but us older Kwikee users may want to put the above information in their tech library for future reference.

I think this is the right picture for your Revolution Step.

Yes, that's the correct photo and I'm sure your info will help someone in the future. Thanks for responding. I'll keep trying to find a solution.

There are different pinion gear widths on different motor assys. I found replacement motor assy's advertised as "replacements" w same gear pitch but different gear width. The motor/gearbox assy is commonly used for automobile power windows.

Thanks - this one has been on the coach for several years and worked without problems. And now, without being hit or damaged, no longer interlocks the gear teeth between the motor gear and the step gears for some reason. Haven’t found any literature on adjustment screws. The mounting screws are fixed and appear in adjustable.
