KwiKee room slide out problems

I have a KwiKee Digisync slide system for the forward driver's side slide out. Lately the front motor has been getting very noisy. Finally it would not keep pace with the aft motor and sounded like gears grinding. I was able to get it extended by manually pushing it along the last several inches.

I had a local mobile service tech come out and try to figure out what the problem was. When he removed the gear box cover we discovered the three gears were badly worn and not meshing properly. We also saw a fairly large quantity of metal shavings in the box. As we were leaving for home the following morning, there was no time to wait for parts.

I have examined the motor and gear box assembly and it appears that replacing it would be a fairly straight forward job. The problem is that I can't seem to find the correct part for the job.

I am referring to the unit in my motorhome as in my signature. Can anyone help me to find the correct motor assembly part numbers? I have searched the web and the KwiKee (now power gear) sites with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you both for your replies. I have checked the Winnebago parts list and found numbers for a motor, however they don't match the numbers on the label I found on one of the motors. Rather than having a Kwikee or Power gear label, they have a manufacturer label of AM Equipment. I got on the AM web site and tried the numbers in the search box and came up blank. There is a listing of motors they make, but none match the one I have.

I also checked the Power Gear site and found the link you mentioned. Again I am not able to find a match for what I have.

I bought a step motor from AM a few years ago. They made a lot of motors for Kwikee. They were great to deal with and I had spoke to them on the phone prior to ordering. I would give them a call.

Thanks Cliff. I sent them an email last night, but won't get an answer until sometime later this week. I know have a photo of the motor to send them as well. Did they sell direct to you, or did you have to go through a dealer?

You might send Power Gear an email . You can send it now and you'll probably get a response in the morning. Address it to Bill and tell him irv2 suggested you contact them for assistance on identifying this part. His address is [email protected] . They own Kwikee

Cliff you are a wealth of information. I just sent off an email as you suggested and included photos of the unit. Hope they can help. Replacement looks to be fairly easy and a job I could handle myself if I could get the right part. It sure beats having the motor home sitting at a dealer for them to get to it during this busy season.

Cliff, is the Bill you are referring to happen to be a Bill Scott?

I got a response from Lippert Controls but was expecting it from Power Gear.

He wanted the Kwikee number from the slide out rail. Of course the number is not visible for me. He then request I contact Winnebago for the Kwikee system number used in my coach. I've sent a message to Winnebago requesting the information and waiting for a response.

Also got a response from AM Equipment stating that the number on the label was a proprietary Kwikee number and they can't help me. I again looked over the motors available from them and find nothing that matches what I have. Go figure, their tag and logo on the label and they can't help.

It shouldn't be this difficult but I'm confident you'll get to the bottom of this.

Finally got my answers today. Winnebago responded with the system number I needed. Sent that off to Power Gear and had the part numbers I needed within minutes.

Now I just need to find the part at a fair price. Of course the gears are not available separately, must purchase the entire motor assembly.

I should compliment Bill at Lippert, who apparently owns Power Gear and Kwikee brands.

Once I was able to provide the information he needed, his response was very quick and complete. he even forwarded all the technical drawings and breakdown for my system.

I give them credit for being so responsive in providing very good customer service.
