How to reseal radio antennas on roof

Hi,
My Winn Journey antenna sealant is not leaking inside coach yet, but the sealant is cracking / separating on the roof (see pics attached). Near roof line, sealant is fairly hard, but about 1 in up from roof maybe PO used a different sealant (softer, maybe silicon ?)

How do I reseal? Can I just peel off softer sealant (silicone?) and reseal with new silicone? I’m hoping I don’t have to peel off the lower portion sealed to roof as that still seals tight.

My methods on resealing may not meet with approval but here goes. First clean the caulk the best you can, if you want to try and cut off the dirty top go ahead, but clean is important. You have to go and get caulk made for RVs. Dicor self leveling roof caulk is one of the best. Do not use silicone caulk. Just put it on and the product will do the rest. As long as you are on the roof you might as well inspect, clean and do the rest of the caulking locations.

The only way to do it correctly, in my opinion, is to scrape it all off, clean with thinner, and start over with Dicor. That looks like silicone, and nothing sticks to it well.


If the antenna is leaking, I would remove the antenna and its gasket, clean and inspect it all, and then seal the gasket to the roof and the antenna to the gasket with a layer of butyl tape, tighten it down, and then top with Dicor,
