Fuel Additives?

I have a 2003 cat 330 pushing a 36' Journey. 100,000 miles on it. I bought this year so have no idea how previous owner did.
I am thinking to put an additive with injector cleaner fuel stabilizer. In at least the next four fills.
Do they work? Worth the money? What one do you use and if there is a reason for that one.

Thanks for all helpful replays

I know OTR drivers who had pre 05' tractors (no particulate filter or DEF emmissions setup) and they would add automatic transmission fluid to their fuel on occasion to clean the injectors. I've also read that some manufacturers do not recommend this (FoMoCo) on their diesels. I think you may get a few opinions on this.

Due to the low sulfur content of diesel fuel now adding something isn't a bad idea IMO.

Transmission fluid is inexpensive but I don't know what ratio you would need to mix it to. I would not hesitate to use Marvels Mystery Oil or Seafoam in any gasoline or diesel engine as per the labels direction. I've never had a problem with either.

Seafoam is supposed to hamper algae growth in your tank by breaking up moisture. It may smooth out an engine but isn't necessarily going to give you more power.

A better mind with experience will chime in.

I use "Power Service" for my diesels. They have two different products the one for the winter stops the fuel from gelling. I know in the midwest the Caseys stores add the Power Service antigell product to their fuel in the winter.

There are a lot of additives that can be used. Ford has one for its engines, Lucas oil also makes them and there are several others. I use the grey jug stuff for my ford and it supposedly adds more what would be octane in gas engines but is for diesels. I buy some stuff off the net but cant remember the brand right now so a search could be helpful if you want to find stuff. Some of it is advertised with lower prices when on sale and usually comes in Qt or 1/2 gallon sizes. The stuff I use is avail at most auto stores and wally world. Wont hurt to try.
