Front Slide Controller Issue 2016 Journey

Hi all,

I'm plagued with mechanical issues this week! A couple of months ago, our forward cabin driver slide wouldn't properly retract. We were told be Winnebago tech support it was probably the motor. We managed to push the slide in, and limped to our extended-stay destination. We got a local dealer to check it out, and they said the motors were fine, it was a bad controller for that slide. They ordered and replaced the part and sent us on our own.

On the day we were supposed to hit the road (2 days ago),the slide didn't work again. The dealer sent a technician out who tested various issues and determined we had a bad controller again. Lippert is paying for it, but I'm concerned that something is causing the part to fail, and the dealer isn't catching it. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Does anything have any ideas as to what might be causing this? It's my understanding that this particular part rarely fails.

Thanks,

Mark Winge

2017 Journey 42E - DS front slide. Both motors and controller failed first year. Replaced all components, no issues since. I understand controller failure is/was not uncommon. I have a friend with a 2022 Coachman - he is having same issue.

That's unfortunate! We bought new rigs for many years, until we stepped up to the more costly diesel pushers. It pains me to hear these same issues are occurring more often in the newer rigs. Our slide controller was less than 60 days old when it failed...again. So I'm hoping this dealer has a mechanic savvy and experienced enough to determine if something else is causing it. Thanks for your reply. Mark
