Drive Shaft Removal 2004 Sunova 27C Workhorse

Hello, I have a 2004 Itasca Sunova 27C P32 Workhorse chassis 8.1 Vortec engine with a 4L85E transmission. Has any one removed the rear drive shaft. This is the shaft aft of the carrier bearing. It should slide off the carrier bearing spline after the rear universal is disconnected, but mine only slides about an inch then stops. I tried tapping on the universal nuckle but no luck. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
