Does this True air amperage draw sound right?

I installed a new filter in the AC unit today and while there fired up the gen. set. The one place system, amperage read 2 amp., absolutly nothing on.
I turned the AC on, it surged to high 20s and remained on a 10 amp. draw.
2nd stage compressor kicks in and again high 20s surge and settles on 17amp. draw.
It seems to me I recollect amperages in the mid 20s., like 27 or so.
However this was while plugged in to AC, the refer. on and maybe a tv.
Does this seem right?

I had the same low draw with the AC and it turned out to be burned out resistors on the EMS control board. Several people have had this problem

Looks about normal to me... Actually. the surge levels look a bit low.

For a 2-stage Air Conditioner (You mentioned second stage compressor) I'd say it's within reason.. NOTE that the meter may not be exactly "Lab Quality"...

17 amps, though.. I'd expcet closer to 15,, but again that's within 20% and non-lab meters.. Well. that could be.......

I've seen meters disagree by 10-20 percent on occasion.

I agree and the current readings are very close to mine. (coleman/RVP).

Thanks for the replies.
It was amazing how dirty the filter was, I could hardly believe any air passing through it. It had had all spring and summer usage often in a dusty enviroment.
Its a maintenance item that is out of sight and often in my case, out of mind.

If my memory is right and not left I believe 16 amp is normal running 1 comp and mid 20's for 2. These are running not surge or startup. I should know these by heart because of the tbl I had with old ac. Contact rvp. Those guys stand behind their product and will give you any info you need.

I typically run 11 or 12 with on compressor on and 22-23 with both on.

Checked my AC against the specs. RVP publishes and they are right on versus what I see on my EMS panel.

EMS panel when AC is running (not starting draw)
Compressor #1 running (high fan speed) - toggles between 14 and 15 amps
Compressor #1 & #2 (high fan speed) - toggles between 24 and 25 amps

RVP published specs:
14.7 amps for compressor #1
24.7 amps for Compressor #1 & #1 together
