“Different” Kwikee step issue

We camp host at state parks around the southeast. When we left our last site after 4 months in the same spot the steps would not retract. I sprayed the gears and joints and they retracted. We get to our next park and the steps would not come out. After searching here, I tried several suggestions I found and nothing worked. Since I have an extended warranty my plan was to find a mobile repair to fix it. We have been in the new location for 5 days and I went outside when I came back the steps were extended. Wife said she was sitting inside and heard them extend. Any thoughts?

Just for luck?
One of the more common problems is the magnet down at the lower left of the door (as we go out!) as they tend to get the wires banged or the magnet gets moved.
Too close to too much activity at times?
See if those two look okay, no wires sticking out and firmly attached, as they are the items which sense door open and closed.

Thanks for that suggestion. Everything seems to be in order, however I’m trying to track down a magnet strong enough to test with.

A strong magnet is not critical, most any medum-size magnet will suffice, IF the reed switch wire connections are not corroded.
Kwikee steps are always "hot", the controller turns the motor off/on and changes directions by switching the ground..
This explains everything: Kwikee Product Service Training Manual
FWIW, Kwikee steps says to lubricate all moving joints monthly.

This happened to me several times before I repaired the motor and eventually replaced it with an identical unit I purchased from Amazon for about $35.
