Dash AC not cold, also P1289 code

2012 Winnebago Vista 30T Ford F53 Chassis

I am in the early stages of diagnosing a P1289 code. (Cylinder Head Temp sensor high input)

I tried resetting the code, but it immediately comes back on once started.

I also have no cold dash AC, I am guessing this is related.

I am on my way out to try and locate this sensor, any suggestions on how to help diagnose and resolve are welcome.

I'll update this thread as I go.

I removed the "dog house" and was able to see the Cylinder Head Temperature sensor. And I got a closer look it was obvious what the issue was, chipmunks. I've had the RV parked by my house for a week and that is all it took for the chipmunks to make a home in the engine compartment.

So now I need to get some new wire harnesses and eliminate the cause.

Chipmunks and squirrels are terrible. There are ways to resolve this. Some people use a bucket with water. I've never done that but I hear it's effective. It's an ongoing dispatch and very unpleasant.

Fortunately we don't have those here in Florida. I have had to get after some toothy squirrels. They have to keep the teeth filed down so they chew things up.

There are no areas that I visit which don't have some form of rodent that will chew on things, even if they are not looking for food. Squirrels are one which have had lots of study as they chew telephone and power cables. So the info is that their teeth grow as long as they live and the way to keep them sharp as well as short is to chew as the tooth is made with a softer inner portion which wears faster than the outside. If they are put in labs in a situation where they cannot chew, the teeth grow to extreme lengths which eventually will kill them.
So they are not actually sent to make your life hell, just designed that way!

So the answer may be to carry along a chew toy for rodents, stationed away from your delicious vehicle...

Rodent repel

I bought a electric device that repels nice, rats, bats and others depending on how you togel the two switches, from Menards. They use them to keep mice out of stored dog food. Seems to work. Two seasons now and no mice.
