Cool solution to keeping cool while driving.
Sitting around the Big Red Campfire with a tall gin and short tonic, it's amazing how much talk centers around keeping cool while lumbering through the desert. Dash air can't cool the whole rig, and firing up the onan to power the house ac feels like overkill.
The folks we've met have often come up with the same solution as us -- string a line side to side behind the captain's chairs and hang a curtain on it to contain the dash air. Effective, but not so attractive.
SWMBO wanted to install the same type of curtain track as OEM for front window curtains. Two problems -- hugely expensive and, because of ceiling light fixtures and vents, we could not install straight track.
Then, we stumbled onto a product called Z Color. (In our case, from amazon) For about $17.00 we got 3 meters of FLEXIBLE track including mounting brackets (9), end caps (2), and curtain carriers (21). Z Color is a vinyl I-beam with a spring steel core. Quiet plastic rollers on the carriers. We deep sixed the included screws and used self tapping lathing screws spray painted white to match.
Took about 45 minutes of second guessing ourselves on track placement, then actual installation took less than 30 minutes. Super easy, and really looks and works great! Had 25 inches of excess track left over.
Sorry, camera angle makes the radii look different going around ceiling vents -- they are the same. Really!
