Caulk question

Caulk question:
I have a Winnebago Warrior (1992). A previous owner silicone caulked the edge along the side of the front part of the unit that wraps over the cab of the truck. In other words, the part of the motor home that you whack your head into about every other time you get in or out of the cab. I think the guy bought a case of caulk and a case of beer and didn't quit until both were consumed, so it's real sloppy. Removing the silicone caulk is a bear, but I'm sure the joint (both sides) was leaking, so I will be re-caulking. As a temporary protection, I put a narrow strip of Gorilla tape over the joint in case it rains before I caulk. Here's the thing--it doesn't look all that bad, except that the tape is black. Is there some sort of strong adhesive tape (or vinyl) that I can use instead of the caulk? Something that would hold up to the elements? The RV is kind of a light brown/beige/tan color.

While the eternabond may be a good solution it may be a bear to follow any curves. And it's super sticky! Once applied you won't want to mess with it for a very long time. Yeah, silicon is the worst. Maybe clean it off and use another product.
