I'm about ready to do the 1st oil change, and when I have it done I want to install either a valve, or removable tube drain so I can to the service myself next time. I think I like the removable tube idea more than an exposed valve.
Has anyone done this (I think the name is something like Fumnto?), how do you like it, and what is the part# for the engine?
Also thinking about the same for the QuietDiesel 7.5 if anyone has that part# as well?

I put a shutoff valve on my gen set and it worked fine. When I had the oil changed in the engine they didn't have a shutoff valve on hand so will have to do it the next oil change.
I think it's a Fumoto valve.

Jeff, I put on one with the nipple for connecting a hose. Go to http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ where you can look up and order the valves for your vehicles.

The Fumoto valve is the one I installed. Makes for less of a mess when you change all that oil

I also installed the Fumoto valve on mine and oil changes are fairly easy and a lot less messy with the valve.

Guess I'll hop on board then as well, thanks!
The one I had remembered was sold by Ranger Design, that when the tube was removed would shut a valve, and it had a brass screw-on cap. They apparently don't sell these any longer.
So, it looks like a T-204 for the C-7. Any ideas on the QuietDiesel 7.5?

(edit): I posted this question over on the Freightliner forum as well, and Chief is using a T-104 in his C-7, but yet the book says T-204. Hummmm...

I had the same question and dropped an e-mail to those folks to determine the correct model number for the C-7 and Onan generator.
I'll post the information when they respond.

Here's the response I received today:
Thank you for your inquiry of Dec. 8.
Our part#T204(size 3/4"-16) is a suitable application for Cat C-7 engine.
Also the plug size for Onan Quiet Generator 7500 is NPT1/4 (The number is deceiving.
It does not measure 1/4 inch, but it's actually a little over 1/2 inch tapered NPT plug.)
We don't make the valve with that thread size, but we do have an adapter to fit your engine.
Please order F107N valve and an adapter ADP-710.

It was good seeing this thread about putting the valve on the generator. Oil changing on the genset isn't going to be as messy anymore

Well here's a question.. Chief says he has a T-104 on his C-7. I wonder what the difference is?

I couldn't find the T104 on the site. The 204 is what is listed on the site as being the one for the C-7. Here is the thread in the Winnie forum I posted before I decided it was better off here. Wish me luck..
The Onan needs an adapter for the valve. I bought an ADP710, and F107 valve for the genset. I'm still a little leery about doing this one, but I want to hold it up there and decide if it's really smart to have that thing hanging down or not. Changing the generator oil isn't really a big deal. But the engine is a different story..
