Burning oil/paint smell

Picked up my winn. view this week. I drove 350 miles or so yesterday and all went well. Today I went out for a short trip- drove for about 15 min then 15 min back just as arriving back there was a very strong smell of burning oil/paint and perhaps even a little smoke from under the hood. Anyone have any clue if this is just a cleaning cycle for the cat converter?

I doubt if it's the catalytic converter, but could be paint from the exhaust manifolds or other things underneath that get hot. I would check underneath to be sure all exhaust joints are tight and heat shields in place. See if you and track down the hot spot so to determine if it's O.K. or a fire waiting to happen.

NYBobbo, I would look for a oil leak that showed up after driving the first 350 miles.

Mine smelled for the first couple of trips too. I doubt if it's anything to worry about.

I got to look under the coach when getting my HWH levelers installed. There was a random thin plastic up under the coach, looks to be protective plastic from flooring or rug, I believe that a similar strip may have gotten on the exhaust system.

Most of the time when we had this complaint, It was overspray on the exhaust system.#1 undercoating #2 Spray on insulation Check the oil and transmission levels. If they are O.K., Give it a couple of trips to go away.
